Email horror stories
CNET readers share some of their worst email nightmares. Take heed, and don't let it happen to you!
CNET says
Lots of pranksters and hucksters use email to spread hoaxes--the topic is often a warning about a virus that doesn't actually exist. Some of these have made the rounds of the Internet so many times, they've risen to the status of urban legend. Be a good Netizen; don't annoy your friends and coworkers by passing these along. Before you click Forward, check Data Fellows' hoax warnings page, or search the Urban Legends Archive to see if the message is a confirmed hoax.

Email options
Email comes in many flavors. If you use AOL, you get your mail through your AOL interface. If you connect to the Net with an independent ISP, though, you can pick your own email client (the software you use to send, receive, and manage your mail). Many free and commercial clients are available, and some browsers come with built-in mail clients.

Buyer's checklist
There are so many email programs! How do I choose? Take a look at our checklist to take the guesswork out of choosing an email client.

 Did you know?
Email has its own set of courtesy rules. These are known Internet-wide as Netiquette--short for network etiquette. Check out this AOL site to learn the rules of the road: Email FAQ.
