In summer 2006, Assistant Professor Psyche Williams-Forson published her first book, Building Houses out of Chicken Legs, University of North Carolina Press

American Studies consists of eleven full- and part-time regular faculty, approximately seventy affiliated faculty from across the campus, one associate professor emeritus, and several adjunct faculty associated with organizations such as the Smithsonian Institution.
