Theory, Culture, and Society: Explorations in Critical Social Science
Call number: H1.T48
Most articles in this 15 year old journal discuss the work of theorists like Bordieu and Foucault, who explore the power relationships of social practice. In part, their mission is to provide a venue for work which bridges the disciplinary gaps between the social sciences and the humanities. Typically, contributors to the journal are professors from various disciplines, including, sociology, media studies, psychology, and cultural studies. An occassional graduate student appears as a contributor. While I have not heard of any of the editors or contributors to this journal, it may be very useful to graduate students attempting to understand contemporary theory. This journal does not provide any type of bibliography however, each issue concludes with book reviews of recently published work in the field.

*Yale Journal of Criticism. April and October
Call number: PN2.Y34
This journal comes with an impeccable scholarly pedigree; each article is written by a card-carrying member of the intelligensia who demonstrates expertise with 12-line footnotes and three-page bibliographies. The topics covered tend toward the literary but may include articles on philosophy and film criticism. There is an index in the spring 1997 edition that articulates the contents of all the editions from 1987-1996.
