"...devoted to the preservation and study of the American Jewish experience." Articles are accompanied by notes but not bibliographies. The April issue of every volume contains a list of selected acquisitions of the American Jewish Archives.

The semiannual report of the status of the field includes a list of recent relevant dissertations. Numbers 2 and 4 of each year contained through 1991 annotated bibliographies of Judaica Americana, under the following categories: General works--bibliographies, historiography, local history, periodicals; Special Studies--biography, cultural life, education, genealogy, relations with non-Jews, relations overseas, sociology, synagogue history, and Zionism. This serial bibliography now appears to be dead.

Published in London. International in scope. Focuses on international issues of ethnic and racial studies. Some quantitative research. Social sciences orientation. Publishes articles, extensive book review section, occasional review essays, and a small "books received" section in each issue but no other bibliographies.

Subject matter is global ethnic studies. Each issue publishes 5-8 research articles, ranging in nature from sociology, ethnic history, ethnic literature, to ethnic librarianship. Also publishes 20 to 25 reviews of current titles of print and nonprint sources on ethnic studies and a bibliography of Information and Reference sources as well as a books received section.

Presents itself as a "multidisciplinary study of ethnicity, ethnic groups, intergroup relations, and the cultural life of ethnic minorities." Each article is followed by 2-3 critiques. Dedicated to the history of Hispanic Americans. Includes book reviews, review essays and numerous selected bibliographies. Has three comprehensive indexes.
 
 
Immigration History Newsletter.
Publishes review essays and reports on research-in-progress in each issue as well as lists of recent publications of interest. Selected bibliographies on various topics appear on an irregular basis (every few issues). Each article is published with its own bibliography.

Published by the Center for the Study of Afro-American History and Culture at UCLA. Each issue has 3-6 articles and a substantial book review section. International in scope with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research. The original emphasis was on African-Americans, but the journal has expanded its scope. No bibliographies.

Founded in 1916 by Carter Woodson, this is probably the most influential journal dedicated to race. There is no political agenda present. Publishes book reviews and review essays. Regular serial bibliography of blacks in periodical literature compiled by Purvis Carter, professor of history at Prairie View A & M, Texas. Bibliographic categories are Intellectual, Cultural, Social, Slavery, Antebellum, Civil War, Reconstruction, Biography, Documents, Historiography, Methodology, Economic, Political, Legal, Women. Also contains a "Notes and Announcements" section which lists papers and conferences, etc. There is also a "books received" section.
 
 
New Scholar: An Americanist Review, 1969--. 2/yr.

Aim is "to provide an multidisciplinary forum for scholars seeking a better understanding of the unique human condition and experience of the Americas." Invites comparative studies in the Americas context, including work on indigenous societies, race relations, political and economic development, power relations, literary and artistic expression, and comparative colonial experience.

The Atlanta University review of race and culture. This journal is interdisciplinary in nature and differs from other journals of ethnic subject matter by its emphasis on culture. Coverage is not restricted to the United States. Early issues included a selected bibliography. Currently, the bibliographic apparatus consists of book reviews and review essays.

Originally a journal of race and group relations, it now bills itself as a "journal for Black and Third World liberation." Published in London. Deals w/issues of ethnicity, class, and gender. Contains articles, book reviews, and lists of books received, as well as occasional review articles. Occasionally publishes special editions devoted to current issues, e.g. the invasion of Lebanon. No theme bibliographies.
 
 
Western Journal of Black Studies, 1977--. 4/yr.
Call number: E 184.7 .W4
Sociologically-oriented, but covers diverse topics like African-American art and literature. Also contains articles concerning African-American studies. Is dedicated to "research, social analysis and political commentary." Contains book reviews in every issue but it does not publish on ongoing serial bibliography. Scholarly influence of the journal may not be great, but it publishes some valuable articles.
