This multimedia Website is our final project for the AMST628M: Culture and Communication course at the University of Maryland, in Fall 1998. The material included in this site builds on the several books used in the course: Marshall McLuhan's Understanding Media, Andrew Ross' No Respect, Sally Banes' Greenwich Village 1968, as well as movies such as Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window (1954) and its ABC adaptation (1998). We encourage you to explore the site in any path you like, however, we are happy to offer you our narrative to follow by simply clicking on the Explore! button. For best viewing, both Netscape 3.0 and/or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher are recommended. We would like to thank the copyright owners for each image, soundtrack, and video clip we have used in this presentation.
