My work focuses on the fields of Gerontology, Life Course and Aging. The following metasite is a gathering of resources combining academic materials, non-profit organizations and for profit organizations in the United States. This site grows out of my own work in aging with an emphasis on the aging process of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered folks. This site contains resources I have located on my own as well as those I have been directed to by others.
Seeking to understand the construction of the fields of Gerontology and Aging my emphasis is on long term care and housing structures for LGBT/Q people 55 years of age and older. Examining the role of hospice and other ways in which "Communities of Care" are constructed for palliative care I consider what/how assistive technologies (machines/other equipment) influence/alter/shift/play a role in various forms of Home and Community Based Care (HCBC) as well as in Assisted Living facilities.
The structure of this page is in flux as I organize and consider additional ways to present the connections I see within the various disciplines of this very interdisciplinary field. I would encourage you to visit this site again as I continue to update and include resources for the field of Aging broadly and LGBT/Q aging and long-term care specifically.
