What about me? I am a 2nd year PhD student in Women's Studies at the ~University of Maryland. I am doing this website as part of a class project for AMST 603 class. My research is on teenagers engaging in street prostitution and social justice. I am specifically interested in doing ethnography with teenagers in Queensbridge and their interaction with the juvenile justice system.
Other research interests include race, class, gender and sexuality in that oh so lovely broad sense. I am currently also working with professors on researching Brown vs. Board of Ed, Korean American Women and Labor and Welfare Reform.
But their is a lighter side of me. I love hip hop and activism and hip hop activism! Currently in rotation in my sad little 3 CD changer: RH Factor, Amel Larrieux, Black Star. I cherish my friendships and the communities I have created in MD, NYC, Philly and Boston.
Don't mean to toot my own horn, but....aaaruuugaaa! Me, Clare and Bianca are headed to NWSA's national conference to present our panel, "Zones of Contention: Women Stuck in the Middle?" Go head!
