WordPress Blog is a blogging system that people can reflect, share views, make notes and contribute to your community at large. Other users can comment on posts and can subscribe to your blog in order to be notified when you create new content. Faculty/Staff and Students can use a WordPress Blog for
- following a particular topic of study or interests
- getting feedback from campus communities or social organizations
- creating knowledge bases for campus support units
- creating a forum for student interaction and reflection
- giving students a place to practice writing skills
- and more
Compared to the ELMS Blog, Journal LX, a WordPress Blog can be
- customized easily. Some Plug Ins are availabe, and can be installed by request.
- opened to public or restricted to course users only
- migrated to other Blog, such as Blogger
Getting Started with WordPress Blog
Request Wordpress space
- Go to the WordPress Blog request form
- Fill out the form, indicating the following options:
- public or private blog
- users roles.
- if you are requesting a course blog, please attache a course roster in a text file (*.txt) with each student's Lastname Firstname and email address per line to learningtools at umd.edu
