itunesu start page

There are three ways to access and manage the content in your iTunesU academic course space. First, you can click on the direct link to the space that is identified in the e-mail you receive when your request for an iTunesU academic site space is approved. Second, you can click on the direct link that is listed in the Manage Space tool at Maryland on iTunes U (https://learningonline.umd.edu/itunesu/welcome.jsf). Third, you can go to iTunesU Academic Site (https://learningonline.umd.edu/media/itunesu), click on the link for your college, locate the folder for your department, then click on the link representing your course folder (or "album" in iTunes speak). Clicking on the link for your course in any of these three scenarios will launch iTunes and give you direct access to your course space. In this view you have the ability to Upload and Manage files and edit some of the graphical and textual content of the page.

Upload Files to the iTunesU Course Space

To manually add content to your iTunesU course page:

  1. Access your course album through one of the methods listed above.
  2. Click on the Upload and Manage Files link in the Tools area of the page.
  3. Click on the Add New File link.

    Upload File
  4. Click the Browse button to scan your local computer for a media file.

You will see a status note that indicates the file has been queued for uploading and, then, counting down the size of the file as it is uploaded. This process can take a while if the file size is large. iTunesU only accepts files for upload that are less than 500 megabytes.

Managing Your iTunesU Course Space

In addition to uploading content to your iTunesU course page, you can also customize the look and feel of the page in terms of the organization of your files and the inclusion of a graphical image.

  1. Click on the Edit Page link. Notice that in this view of the environment numerous icons provide clues about the parts of the page that can be edited.
Edit Artist: By default the Artist field displays your Directory ID. You can change this by clicking on the Edit icon (pencil) next to the artist field. Type the name you would prefer to display to users of your course space.
Edit Course Description: The text in the Course Description field initially displays the title of your course as it appears in Testudo. Click on the Edit icon to change the title or add more content.
Image Placeholder: By default, the image associated with your department on the iTunesU academic server will display on your course page, as well. You can replace that image with one of your own preference.
