The University of Maryland podcast.umd.edu server provides an alternative to iTunesU Academic and Wimba Podcaster for storing digital media files. The resource supports a variety of media formats, including .mp3, .m4v, and .aac, and can accommodate files sizes as large as 100 megabytes (audio) and 250 megabytes (video). Storing such files on podcast.umd.edu and linking them into your ELMS course space or other Web-based environment minimizes the impact that such files have on the space quotas that may limit the development of those environments.
While podcast.umd.edu is not a tool itself, secure file transfer tools (e.g., WebDAV clients) can be used to interact with the resource. Information on how to upload files to podcast.umd.edu can be found below.
