The OIT Learning Technologies group has instructional designers on the staff who look forward to meeting with faculty to discuss their individual teaching and technology goals. They can provide guidance on general technology use strategies or they can provide more in-depth consulting on blended/hybrid and online course design:

General technology and strategies consultations

Technology and strategies consultations usually involve the discussion of a particular strategy you would like to try in one of the tools we support [4] (e.g., ELMS (powered by Blackboard), Live Classroom, Wiki, Blog, etc). Schedule a personal consultation with one of our instructional designers for guidance in selecting and using the most appropriate tools for your course. To make an appointment email elms@umd.edu.

Blended/Hybrid or fully online course design consultations

Our blended/hybrid and online course consultations are meant to be more in-depth and broader in scope than the basic technology and strategies consultations described above. The sessions consist of at least one, but usually more, meetings to assist you through the process of designing a hybrid or online course.

On average, the entire process of designing and developing an online or hybrid/blended course requires six to nine months. Depending on the scope of your project and timeline, instructional design guidance will be provided free or as fee for service. Course site components and media production are provided as fee for service.

The Learning Technologies consulting approach consists of four primary phases outlined in our Instructional Design Consulting Process [5].
