Respondus is a tool for creating and managing exams, quizzes and surveys. Once created in Respondus, exams, quizzes or surveys can be imported directly to ELMS (powered by Blackboard) or printed for paper distribution.

It is currently available for use by UMCP faculty and staff through a license purchased by the Office of Information Technology. The Office of Information Technology renews the license annually on July 1.

Notes: Respondus is recommended for ELMS users who have at least basic experience with the Blackboard Quiz/Survey tool. If you do not have this experience, please contact elms@umd.edu and a member of the OIT Instructional Design and Development will assist you in receiving instruction on the Quiz/Survey feature. Also, check the http://training.umd.edu, Course Catalog, Learning Technologies Institute for offerings of the “IIT-Respondus” workshop.

Platform Requirement: Windows only

Download and installation

The Respondus application is available for download and installation at http://otal.umd.edu/respondus_req_download. Additional installation information and requirements are also provided on this site. A UMCP Directory ID and password are necessary to download the software. IMPORTANT: Once you have logged-in with your Directory and password to download Respondus, be sure to print the installation instructions page because important registration information is provided there.

• Updating the annual license code: after July 1 of each year you will need to enter a new license code to renew the license. To get the new code, return to the download page where the new code will be posted, or email elms@umd.edu.
