iPad Classroom: Mobile Teaching Strategies

With the rise of mobile media as the most pervasive form of computing worldwide, faculty are increasingly challenged to come up with strategies to deal with these technologies in the classroom.

For those looking to find ways of incorporating mobile technologies into their teaching, this would be the event you do not want to miss!

Jason Farman (faculty, Department of American Studies) will be discussing his recent approaches and the successes and failures he's encountered. Focusing especially on the use of the iPad in the class (with applicability to laptops and mobile phones), Farman will discuss ways of creating backchannel discussions in the classroom, using the devices as clickers, and utilizing location-aware applications to dynamically engage the students with the space of the university campus.
