PC users
If you use a PC, you will need to download and install the WebDAV client, WebDrive, so that you can connect to the UMD streaming media server (see step 1). After you download the software, you will need to enter the HOST NAME and your Directory ID to connect (see step 3). Once you connect to the server, you can direct upload your local media file to the server by dragging and dropping.
Step 1: Download WebDrive [1](Click on the Microsoft Windows link and type in your Directory ID to start downloading)
Step 2: Activate the WebDrive client - After you download the software and unzip the file, a webdrive folder will be created. In that folder, open the license.txt file, and copy the code to WebDrive in active code area.
Step 3: Connect to streaming server [2]
For Mac users
If you use a Mac, we recommend you to use Goliath, a WebDAV client for Mac. Goliath can provide a stable connection for UMD streaming media server (see Option1). You also can use the integrated WebDAV for the connection without download the client (see Option 2).Note, no matter what application you will use, type in "https://dav.webhosting.umd.edu/streamingmedia/YourDirectory" as the HOST NAME, and enter your Directory ID and Password to connect. Remember to replace the "YourDirectory" in the URL above with your actual Directory ID.
Please feel free to contact learningtools@umd.edu [6] if you have any questions.
