Uploading Media Files to podcast.umd.edu

Media files are uploaded to podcast.umd.edu through a file transfer protocol called "WebDAV". This tool enables users to move content from a local computer to a remote server by dragging and dropping files. The WebDAV client you will use is determined by your local operating system.

Windows Users


If you use a Windows computer, you will use WebDrive in order to connect to the podcast.umd.edu. The steps below enable you to acquire a copy of WebDrive and upload files to podcast.umd.edu.

  1. Download WebDrive
    (Click on the Microsoft Windows link and type in your Directory ID to start downloading)
  2. Activate WebDrive.
    In the Webdrive folder, open the license.txt file, and copy the code to WebDrive where its says "active".
  3. Connect to podcast.umd.edu

For Mac Users


The Macintosh OS X operating system has an integrated WebDAV client that enables you to connect to podcast.umd.edu (see Option 1 below). You can also choose the Goliath WebDAV client to make the connection (see Option2 below for instructions). You will use your Directory ID and password to connect to podcast.umd.edu via either tool.
