Hyperlinks in fiction put more power in the hands of readers, by personalizing their experiences and making it all about their forming meaning & connnections.

Posted by: Kathleen Moeller on December 14, 2004 10:46 PM | Permalink to CommentUnifiction: http://unifiction.com; creative writing, puzzle solving, team building with role-playing. Uses several forms of media to pass clues to players who solve puzzles in order to win peices of the story.
Slime mold: emergent, bottum-up behavior in the game of life? Single cells congregate to form a community, at the core of emergent behavior is a set of simple rules that lead to complex results, the sum ends up being smarter then its individual parts.
texting: refers to onesixty.com a poetry magazine designed for delivery through text messaging

compiler-mentioned in The Bug-a program that decodes another program's high-level language into a language that can be recognized by the computer so that the program can be executed
Vannevar Bush-wrote As We May Think during WWII which mentions inventions for work and play and which was written for a popular audience

Johanna I think is supposed to be Joanna, Ethan's girlfriend of four years who eventually winds up cheating on him and leaving him in the Bug.
