Welcome to ISTC 667, a graduate course in Instructional Development offered by Towson University!

This course is a journey into the instructional design process using two design approaches: instructional systems design and constructivist design.  The course will prepare students for tasks that require them to professionally design instruction in any educational arena from K-16 to corporate training.  The course also examines instructional design not only from its application to traditional face-to-face settings, but also as it applies to on-line learning environments.

This section of the course is offered on-line using WebCT.  An on-line course offers students the opportunity to access the course and course materials at any time (asynchronous) from any place they have access to the Internet and a browser.  In the course, students have weekly asynchronous bulletin board discussions that use the reading assignments and module materials to respond to instructional design case studies.  The course design supports student learning through a rich learning environment of resources in instructional design.  The course is project-based.  Students are assessed on their application of  what they learn through the course resources and discussions to project assignments directly related to their professional settings or interests.

The instructor is available in weekly synchronous (real-time) office hours in the course Chat room as well as via email, telephone and traditional face-to-face meetings at Towson.
