In May 1939, Batman first appeared in Detective Comics#27 (17). Batman was a different kind of superhero. He did not have any superpowers, but he did have superior intellect and athletic abilities (18). However, Batman did have the costume and alternative identity. Batman's real name was Bruce Wayne, and he became Batman when he witnessed his parents being murdered. From that moment on he decided that fighting crime would be his purpose in life. He wore his batsuit when fighting crime to possibly scare away the criminals (19). After a few years, Batman got his own comic book in 1940.(20). It was called Batman. Later that same year, Batman was joined by his partner, Robin. The duo went on to stop many crimes, and become world famous detectives. Batman's adventures are still occuring today and he has starred in many movies and animations.
