Interpretation of the Exhibition
Overall, I believe that the exhibit, "Field to Factory: Afro-American
Migration 1915-1940", is an excellent compilation of material pertaining
to the migration. I think that the viewing of this exhibit represents
the first time that I was actually excited and moved by American
History.
In addition to the exhibit's relevance to me, I believe that it actually
communicates a lot about American society, as well. It tells about an
experience that not only dramatically effected the early 1900's, but today
as well. I really think that it is important to know about these
particular things that went on in our country because they probably had
direct impact on our beliefs and practices in today's time.
Finally, the exhibit has indications to the values and priorities of the
museum as well as the culture-at-large. Because it covered so many
aspects of Afro-American life, it seems to say that the museum believes
that these things are important. It also says that because it covered so
many aspects and that the people look at it feel that these these things are important as well.
