About Project 4 This project is part of an assignment for my American Studies 205: Material Aspects of American Life class at the University of Maryland at College Park. To start this project, I went to the Greenbelt Museum in Greenbelt, Maryland and examined the medicine cabinet and sink on the second floor.

This project is based on the premise that the objects found in the bathroom are representative samples of what would be found in this bathroom in the late 1930s.

My research came from talking to people about their views of the objects used, talking to experts (such as a chemistry professor) to learn about the composition of the materials, and looking through books on American culture in an attempt to get insight into viewpoints in the 1930s.

If you are interested, there are many sites on the World Wide Web that can tell you all about sinks, faucets, and chemical products.
