Home, James
Hello!
Welcome to James Cantrell's home page. This was done at the
University of Maryland, College Park, where I'm a Math major,in
conjunction with a class I'm taking --American Studies 205. In
this class, we will be placing our writing projects on the WEB. Our main
emphasis will be discussing artifacts and things, and what information we
can learn from them. If that sounds boring, check out this link to

What, your still with me? Ok, you asked for it!
In our
first project, we are asked to pick an item, or artifact, that best
represents our college experience here at U of MD. This was rather
tough...there are many things I could have chosen. However, I did narrow
it down to a ....

In our second project, we were asked to do the standard museum
routine... visit a museum and critique the exhibit in correllation with
the material we are studying. The exhibit I chose ...
Project 2
Next comes project three...in this project we had to pick an object of
appearance and discuss how it fits into Fred Davis' theory that what
we wear communicates a certain image or message. I chose a...

Finally, we have
Project 4
an artifactual based study on Greenbelt, Maryland...
All in all, the class was pretty interesting. Being able to use the WEB
as a method of teaching was quite exciting. Consequently, the projects
were a lot of fun. In a normal class, writing projects are simply
that...WRITING projects. However, in this class, we were able to put a
lot of creativity into the assignments. This combination, I feel,
allowed for better quality work, and projects that are FUN to read.
Therefore, if anyone were to ask me if I would recommend the class, I
would respond definitely YES!!
