I think we found out that a room really is a view into a culture or society. By looking at our environment, seeing what we keep and how we live in our rooms, an observer can tell a lot about our culture and about us in general. From our visit to the Greenbelt Museum master bedroom we were able to determine what life was like in the early days of the city. We found that although the early residents were coming from situations of poverty prior to moving to Greenbelt, they still had many of the same values, morals and concerns that many of us have today. I discovered that the key difference between myself and the early Greenbelt resident is in my point of view, my perspective when it comes to my dwelling. I am coming from a situation that was better than where I am now, and as Sara pointed out, the early Greenbelt residents were coming from worse situations. So I guess you can say that the more things change, the more things stay the same!
