Clothes

In a child's closet, we find two dresses and a sweatshirt. The two dresses are hung up on hangers while the sweatshirt is thrown on a bar not hanging on a hanger. These hangers were important because they helped organize a closet. The hangers that were used here are metal with a cotton covering.

Toys

Because of the limited space in a child's bedroom, toys were also put away in their closet. Some of these toys included a doll, ice skates, and a baseball glove. Children's toys were big in the Depression Era. The materials of the toys do not look as if they were expensive which made the toys cheap and easier for consumers to buy.

Although this particular closet includes both boys' and girls' items, the museum is trying to portray a "typical" child's bedroom closet. For example, the dresses obviously belong to a girl while the boy doll is a toy that a little boy would have probably played with.
