Modern kitchens share many of the same functions as the Greenbelt kitchen. Both kitchens include a pantry to store food and other kitchen items and a place to prepare meals. Also, both kitchens contain basic appliances, such as the stove, the oven, the sink, and the refrigerator. They have places to cook and wash dishes, and refrigerate food. But modern kitchen has added many new functions, like family gathering space.
Greenbelt kitchen was a compact airy kitchen, fitted with modern (at that time) and durable, but inexpensive, equipment. (2) The kitchen has three white metal cabinets with a countertop. The cabinets were sufficent to store many things as possible. Next to the counter, there is a deep sink to wash dishes and clothes. Opposite to the sink is a small refrigerator. Far in the corner, they have the electric range.
The modern kitchen includes many cabinetes that offer sotrage space and easy-to rich shelf space. Modern kitchens include many new accessories such as, appliance garges, Lazy Susans, rollout trays, which make life easier. It also include built-in microwaves, diswasher and garbage disposal. One can also add an island to provide extra space for storage or a place to eat or sit and socialize.
