Comparison of my community with
Greenbelt
My community is the example of the middle class sprawl that is the
suburbs. I make my home (my real home) in Holland, Bucks County,
Pennsylvania. Most of the developments in my area are made up of about
200 homes. These developments are built in a rather ad hoc manner,
connected by two lane roads, which weave and curve around the natural
landscape of the area. In my development, the lot sizes are about 1 acre,
which is much more than the Greenbelt lots. The homes range in price from
$175 thousand to $800 thousand in some places. My community, unlike
Greenbelt, is not made up of one income level. Much like Adam's home,
my parents chose the style in which the wished to build our house. In our
case, it is colonial.
The interior of our home is not utilitarian, as is the case in Greenbelt,
but is designed with aesthetics in mind. Much
like Harmony
Loube's
kitchen, mine is spacious, full of appliances, and serves as a gathering
place for our family.
