Now that you've acquired a little background about the history of suburbia--from reading Bourgeois Utopias--I'd like the class to build a set of questions about suburbia that we will try to answer over the course of the semester.

Please draft two good questions (in hard copy--to hand in) about some aspect of suburban life in the United States. Due Date: Tuesday, Sept. 15th.

Here are a couple sample questions, just to get you started.

1. What is the relationship of suburbia to America? Does living in suburbia equate to achieving the American Dream?

2. Does suburbia = middle class? Are suburban values and a suburban lifestyle the American middle class lifestyle? How mainstream is suburbia?

3. What evidence does suburbia provide about our basic priorities in this country?
