CHILDREN'S BIRTHDAY PARTIES
My project is going to trace birthday parties from the way they were in
the fifties to the current time period. Since "birthday parties" are not
exactly an artifact, my project may not be constructed in the same way as
usually expected, because I will not be able to follow the outline point
by point. The first half of the project will consist of three main
sections.
The first section will include images of the children themselves at the
party, their attire, and the lack or presence of their parents at the
party. The second section will deal with the objects at the party, like the
decorations, party favors, and examples of presents given to
the birthday child. The final section will entail the location of the
parties, and the games and activities played. The second half of the
project will explain the significance of the changes through the years, and
how they relate to suburbia.
Every child in America has a favorite day of the year.
A day when she is the center of attention, may act how she
pleases, and best of all, will receive presents from friends and
family. Birthdays are exciting for these reasons, and because they only
come once a year, they are anxiously anticipated.
