Summary of the Community Basis in Greenbelt As Compared To
Suburbia In General
The city of Greenbelt, MD was
supposed to emulate the perfect suburbia. One of the ways that they
attempted to accomplish this was through community organizations. These
organizations were an intrigal part to the neighborhood feel of Greenbelt
which is one of the reasons that suburbanites moved to the suburbs. The
organizations were what introduced everyone to the other people in the
neighborhood and gave them a chance to interact on a weekly basis.
Greenbelt got the everyone from the parents to the kids involved in
everything from the Citizen's groups to Little League. Greenbelt was in
my eyes one of the closest suburbias to perfect, despite the fact that
they planned and forced all of this interaction, practically, upon its
citizens. Every suburban ideal was woven into this town. There was green
areas, safe underpass walks for the kids, activities for everyone, and
especially a close proximity to the city. Greenbelt was, and is, one of
the perfect examples of suburbia in the world to me.
