Cooperation in Greenbelt
Greenbelt Cooperatives

Cooperative organizations played a key role in the
maintenance and government of
Greenbelt, Maryland. Citizens built a society in which there was both
individual freedom
and mutual aid through cooperative institutions (1).
In this project I will trace a brief outline of
the early history of the Greenbelt Consumer
Cooperative, describe how it functions in relation to Greenbelt, and argue
whether or not the co-op is beneficial to the American way of life.
Greenbelt sought to be a very functional, self reliant
community with conscious citizens capable of working together to better
their neighborhood. The co-ops made this possible.
Here is the project. These links will help you get around.
