Our Cabin Gets Another Room

September, 2000

Walt and Betty Gilbert's cabin in West Virginia got its first major enhancement since we added the deck 19 years ago. We added a screened-in porch (windows, too) so that we can enjoy the scenery more hours of the day and days of the year. Our 12'x28' deck is great but occasionally it rains, or the gnats stop by, or it's too cold.

Our nephew, Rick Burnham, with the able assistance of friends Mike Sullivan and Rob Sears, built it for us. We told him what we wanted and he did the rest. (Ten years ago, Rick and friend, Larry Truman, built the 52-step stairs down to the river.)

Below is the progression of the construction. Click on any of the small pictures to see a larger copy.
