Catharine Annetje Van Brugh was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, on Wednesday, April 19, 1665, and died in Greenbush, New York, on December 6, 1730. They were married in New York City on Friday, March 8, 1689. She took the name Catharine Annetje Van Rensselaer. He is the son of Jeremias and Maria (Van Cortlandt) Van Rensselaer. She is the daughter of Johannes Pieterse and Trijntje (Roeloffs) Van Brugh. They had 11 children:

On June 1, 1704, Hendrick's older brother, Kiliaen, Fifth Patroon, Third
Lord of the Manor of Rensselaerwyck, released to him that part of the
Manor known as Claverack, lying on the east side of the Hudson river
and consisting of about 60,000 acres.
It was never created into a separate manor.
