Walter Gilbert Genealogy: Hendrick Van Rensselaer & Catharine Annetje Van Brugh

962–963. Hendrick Van Rensselaer was born in Greenbush, (New York), on Wednesday, October 23, 1667, and died in Crailo, his home in what is now Rensselaer, New York, on July 2, 1740. He was buried in Reformed Dutch Church of Albany. Catharine Annetje Van Brugh was baptized in Reformed Dutch Church, New York City, on Wednesday, April 19, 1665, and died in Greenbush, New York, on December 6, 1730. They were married in New York City on Friday, March 8, 1689. She took the name Catharine Annetje Van Rensselaer. He is the son of Jeremias and Maria (Van Cortlandt) Van Rensselaer. She is the daughter of Johannes Pieterse and Trijntje (Roeloffs) Van Brugh. They had 11 children:

i.	Maria Van Rensselaer [#481]: She was born in Albany, New York, on March 23, 1689, baptized the Reformed Dutch Church, New York, New York, on March 27, 1689, and died on July 31, 1771.
ii.	Catherine Van Rensselaer: She was christened on January 1, 1692, in Albany, New York. She married Johannes Ten Broeck on December 29, 1714. He was the son of Dirck Wesselse and Christÿna (Van Buren) Ten Broeck, numbers 960 and 961 in this genealogy.
iii.	Anna Van Rensselaer
iv.	Anna Van Rensselaer: She was christened on February 2, 1696, in Albany, New York. She married Petrus Douw in October, 1717. Their nine children were baptized in the Albany Dutch church between 1718 and 1736. During the early 1740s, they built a country home on the east side of the Hudson. The retreat was within Rensselaerswyck and was called "Wolvenhook". See more information at The People of Colonial Albany.

vii.	Helena Van Rensselaer: She was christened on October 4, 1702, in Albany, New York. She married first Jacob Wendel on 19 Dec 1728, second Gertrude Van Cortlandt.
viii.	Jeremias Van Rensselaer
ix.	Johannes Van Rensselaer: He was christened on January 11, 1708, in Albany, New York; died in 1783. He married Angelica (Engeltje) Livingston on 3 Jan 1734.
x.	Hendrick Van Rensselaer: He was born on March 8, 1712, and christened October 4, 1712, in Albany, New York; died on July 9, 1763. He married first Elizabeth Van Brugh on probably 16 Oct 1735, second Alida Livingston.
xi.	Killian Van Rensselaer: He was born on November 25, 1717, christened two days later, in Albany, New York; died on December 28, 1781. He married first Ariaantje Schuyler, and second Maria Low.

The Mormon family record sheet for Hendrick gives his birth place as Albany, Albany County, New York, their marriage date as March 19, 1689, and his death date as July 2, 1744.

On June 1, 1704, Hendrick's older brother, Kiliaen, Fifth Patroon, Third Lord of the Manor of Rensselaerwyck, released to him that part of the Manor known as Claverack, lying on the east side of the Hudson river and consisting of about 60,000 acres. It was never created into a separate manor.
